Extreme
Third at Wilson
July 2004
The Extreme U16 girls ended
up 2-2 at the 2004 Wilson Youth
Soccer Tournament. The Extreme
started out strong with a 3-0
win against the Ken-Ton Sting.
The second game against South
Chautaugua United was delayed
and then shortened due to
storms. The game ended in a 1-0
loss, putting the Extreme second
in their bracket and setting up
an 8:00 AM game against eventual
Champions Ken-Ton Bengals.
Sunday morning's loss to the
Bengals put the Extreme in the
consolation game against the
Northtown Lady Titans. The
Extreme finished strong with a
3-0 win against the Titans and a
third place finish overall.

Extreme
Third at Whitewater Cup
May 2004
| Thirteen
of the Extreme U16 girls
made a strong showing
against teams from New
Jersey, Pennsylvania and
Long Island, NY in the
Whitewater Cup Memorial
Day weekend. Playing in
a U17 division in the
late May heat of central
Pennsylvania with just
two subs the Extreme
ended up 1-2 with scores
of 3-0, 0-2 and 0-2. The
highlight of the weekend
however was not the
soccer, it was the
whitewater rafting trip
the day before the
tournament. Hey...it's
doesn't always have to
be just about soccer
;-).

Extreme
Second at SportCenter 481
Thanksgiving Shootout
November 2003
The Extreme registered two
shut-outs and allowed only three
goals in round robin play thanks
to their staunch defense and the
stellar goal keeping of Stacy
Mitchell. The tough defense was
supported by goals from several
of the Extreme. Going undefeated
in the round robin won the
Extreme the honor of facing
perennial NY West power house
Syracuse United Titans in the
final. The Extreme put up a
tough fight but ended up in that
now all-too-familiar second
place. However the second place
finish was a great result for
the Extreme's first indoor
tournament after moving up to
the U16 Division this fall.

Extreme
finish second at Fulton
Soccerfest
August 2003

Five games, thirteen goals
for, four goals against, what a
finish to a successful season!
The Extreme played exceptionally
well throughout the weekend at
Fulton Soccerfest. The final was
a hard fought, physical contest
with St. Anthony's of Ottawa (a
member of the Ottawa-Carlton
Soccer League Premier Division).
Although the Extreme had many
chances to score and allowed
few, St. Anthony's converted a
corner kick in the first half
and a strange goal that appeared
to have been cleared off the
line late in the second half to
win 2-0. Congratulations are due
to all the members of the
Extreme for a fantastic season.

Extreme
finish second at Camden
July 2003

The Extreme ended up 2-1 at
the Camden Summer Sensation 7v7
tournament July 20, 2003. A slow
start against eventual
tournament winner Oneida
resulted in a 4-3 loss. The
Extreme then woke up and went on
to defeat hosts Camden 5-1 and
last years champions Red Creek
5-0.

Extreme
finish in third at Wilson
July 2003

The Extreme finished in third
place with a 2-1-1 record at the
Wilson Youth Soccer tournament
in Wilson, NY July 12 and 13. It
was a hard lesson in how
unforgiving tournament play can
be as the Extreme had only one
loss during the weekend but that
was enough to keep them out of
the championship game. Starting
out on a cold windy Saturday
morning with a 1-1 draw against
Niagara made the second game
against Chili a must-win
situation. Chili opened up with
two goals in the first three
minutes of the game then the
Extreme settled in and out
played Chili for the next 57
minutes, out scoring them 2-1.
Unfortunately that wasn't enough
to over come the two quick goals
as the game ended in a 3-2 loss.
Sunday morning brought better
weather and better results as
the Extreme handled the Wilson
Lakers 11-0 putting themselves
in the consolation game. The
Extreme scored first and never
looked back cruising to a 3-1
win for a solid third place
finish..

Extreme Finish 9-1
April 2003
The Extreme finished up the
second indoor session at
SportCenter 481 with a record of
9-1. This impressive record left
them tied for second place
behind undefeated Oneida. Since
the Extreme and Oneida never had
the opportunity to play each
other, we can only guess what
might have happened :-).
Winter Training
January 2003
Eight members of the Extreme
will be participating in a
clinic with Tony Epifani of the
Syracuse Soccer Academy.
Tony is a former All American
and US Men's National Under 17
Team member. The clinic will
concentrate on ball handling
skills and is modeled after the
training regime of the Tauichhi
Academy in Santa Cruz, Boliva
Extreme Finishes in Second
Place
January 2003

The Extreme finished up their
first indoor session at
SportCenter 481 in second
place. The girls expected to
play in the U13 division but
were moved up to the U14
division when there were too few
teams signed up at U13. Playing
in the U14 "Black" division the
Extreme only had trouble with
one opponent, the eventual first
place finishers from the
Juventus Soccer Club. Two of the
three games against Juventus
were one goal games but the
Extreme never found the right
combination to crack the
Juventus defense. All three
games against Juventus were
tough, well played games and it
would appear to be a
good-natured rivalry in the
making..
 |
To celebrate the
occasion we had some
cake. |
 |
Don't tell Kaleigh you
can't have your cake and
wear it too! |
|
Coach J. just couldn't
let the girls get by
without a lesson, so
there was a little
engineering competition
(team building
exercise). The Extreme
split up into two teams
and each tried to build
the highest tower from a
bag of assorted junk.
Here are the results.
RIT and Clarkson take
notice, these girls can
do more than just play
soccer! |

The Extreme Spend Some Time
With the Philadelphia Charge
October 2002
WUSA
Philadelphia Charge. Our
clinic was presented by defender
Erica Iverson, keeper Melissa
Moore and one the the Charge's
newest members forward Tracy
Spinelli.

There was even a little one
on one keeper training with
Melissa..

The Extreme got a special
treat when Philly midfielder,
Olympic gold medallist and U.S.
Women's National Team member
Lorrie Fair stopped by. In
additional to putting the
Extreme through the paces of
some pro level drills Lorrie,
Erica, Melissa and Tracy spent
some time talking with the girls
on what it's like to be at the
top of the Woman's game.
The Extreme travelled back to
Oneonta the next day to enjoy
the Hall of Fame game between
the Charge and the
Boston Breakers. The game
ended up 2-1 Boston when
Christine Lilly scored the game
winner in the 87th minute. The
Boston win took a little of the
edge off the day, but all in all
the girls agreed it was a great
weekend and the Charge have
twelve new fans!
