Congratulations to the Rising Stars SC "Blitz" U-19 Girls' team for winning the championship at the Wilson Soccer Tournament July 15-17 with 3 wins and 1 tie. This represents the 3rd consecutive year that the U-19 "Blitz" Team has won at Wilson. On Saturday the first game ended in a hard fought 2-2 tie with the Amherst Stars. The second game versus Ken-Ton Wildcats ended in a 5-1 win. On Sunday morning in a crossover match-up, the Blitz dominated the Starz and Stripes Eliminators with a 6-0 shutout. The Blitz then faced the Wilson Wildcats in the final championship game and totally dominated the contest with a 6-1 victory. Job well done girls! Kaitlen Birnie and Renee' Giffune shared the duties in the goal and had 24 saves in 4 games. Leading the Blitz offensively were Dana Gentile with 9 goals and 3 assists, Jill Pratt had 5 goals and 1 assist, and Kristina Norelli chipped in 4 goals and 2 assists. Katie Endres scored 1 goal. Cheyenne Chrzanowski tallied 3 assists, Julie Olney had 2 assists and Michelle Jackson, Samantha Copeland and Lauren Birnie each added 1 assist.

The Rising Stars Blitz
(defending Girls U-19 Champions)
returned to the championship
game for the 2nd straight year
at the 2004 Wilson Soccer
Tournament. This year the girls
went undefeated for the
tournament 4-0. The girls
finished in 1st place by
defeating the Wilson Lakewomen
9-0 in the opener and the NPAL
Eagles 9-0 on Saturday, and on
Sunday the girls crossed over
and nipped the Lakeshore
Lightning 1-0 setting the stage
for the showdown between the
West Central United from Ohio in
the championship game. The
halftime score of the
championship game was 2-2. The
"Blitz" tallied 2 more
unanswered goals in the 2nd half
to ice the championship for the
2nd straight year. The "Blitz"
keeper Renee' Giffune did an
outstanding job in the net by
only allowing 3 goals the entire
tournament. Congratulations on a
job well done.

The U19 Blitz coached by Bob
Spindler and Kevin Endres had an
outstanding weekend at the
Wilson Youth Soccer tournament
in Wilson NY, July 12 and 13.
The Blitz ended the tournament
with a record of 4-0-1 placing
first in their division and went
on to win the Championship be
defeating Dundon FC in a penalty
kick shootout. The final game
was very competitive and the
Blitz showed great character by
playing hard and staying
focused. Both Tricia Giardino
and Carol Fries, keepers for the
Blitz had outstanding games all
weekend. Giardino went on to
save two of five shots during
the shootout in the final game.
Wendy Spindler made the final
penalty shot to ice the
Championship. Leading the team
offensivly were Kristina Norelli
4 goals, 1 assist, 1 penalty
kick; Tricia McGibbon 1 goal, 2
assists, 1 penalty kick; Wendy

at Wilson
July 2002
Congratulations to the Rising
Stars Blitz on their strong
performance at Wilson. The team
placed 2nd in their bracket and
3rd overall for their division.
The games were highlighted by
strong defense and outstanding
goal keeping by allowing only 4
goals in 4 games. The tournament
was very competitive and the
girls stepped up to the
challenge and played very well
as a team offensively. Several
goals were scored by headers
including the game winning goal
to assure the 3rd place finish.
